I grew up constantly pondering upon ‘What Leadership is?' Is leadership only defined by one’s title or experiences? And if so, what makes a great leader? Are people born with natural leadership qualities or the traits can be learnt?
We often read about leadership qualities, the 'must-have' attribute, how to influence and make an impact on the community, secretly envying those who have them. Admiring from far, if only….. we were naturally gifted with them instead.
The secret to leadership is that you can lead only as far as you grow, and you will grow only as far as you allow yourself. Trapped in every follower, is a ‘hidden’ leader, pending to be discovered and unleashed. True leadership focuses on building other leaders and it starts with planting the seed, and the seed is YOU.
The spirit of leadership is a mindset. Your perception of yourself and the world through your set of lenses. Curiosity, commitment, dedication, taking action and embracing your own quirkiness. We often say that ‘one day’, or maybe ‘someday’, and my question to you is ‘why not today?’
